Star shaped painted pottery beans


  In the Neolithic age, Dawenkou Culture. The height is 29 cm and the caliber is 26 cm. It was unearthed at Dawenkou site in Tai'an, Shandong Province in 1974. Food containers and bean plates often contain offerings such as pig feet, jawbones, and pig heads. The body is painted with octagonal star patterns in white, red and black, separated by strip patterns, and the feet are decorated with circle patterns. Octagonal star pattern is a typical pattern decoration in Shandong Neolithic age. Some researchers believe that the meaning of this pattern is to show the radiant sun; Some scholars also believe that the wide-ranging octagons imply the boundless sky, and the square in the middle symbolizes the earth, which means a round sky and a round place.
